J.M. Bower
My work with J.M. Bower began at the height of change. As a third-generation timber business with over 50 years of expertise, they had built a strong reputation in the B2B space – but with a new generation stepping into leadership and an expanding range of B2C products, it was time to reimagine the brand for a broader future.
The focus was on retaining the craftsmanship, durability and quality the operation was known for, while injecting a new sense of clarity, modernity and confidence that reflected brothers Joe and Matt’s vision for the business. From log cabins and saunas to furniture and fencing, we wanted the brand to speak not only to long-time trade partners – but to a whole new audience of homeowners and lifestyle-led customers discovering J.M. Bower for the first time.
What came was a refreshed visual identity that was clean, grounded and reliable – highlighting British roots, but with energy and warmth. Carefully considered typographic treatments and a fresh colour palette brought balance between heritage and future growth, while subtle motion graphics and design assets introduced a confident new rhythm across channels. The rebrand was a signal of intent: this was a family-run business stepping boldly into its next chapter. The strategy for J.M. Bower was twofold: First, to evolve their brand identity in a way that honoured their legacy, but gave them the tools to grow as a modern, multi-channel business. And second, to reposition them as leaders not just in B2B timber supply, but as a credible new player in the B2C space – launching a product line that included prefab log cabins, saunas, and outdoor living solutions.
I delivered a full rebrand, including logo, colour palette, typographic styling and flexible usage guidelines that could live confidently across product, digital and signage applications. A new suite of branded workwear helped embed the look across their on-site team – supporting consistency from yard to showroom.
To support their digital evolution, we designed and built a new website from the ground up. The site was designed to support both trade and retail customers, clearly signposting product categories, capabilities, and bespoke commissions – while elevating the look and usability to match the quality of the craftsmanship.
I also directed and delivered a full on-site video shoot in their forests in Shropshire, working with a trusted production team to bring the J.M. Bower process to life on screen. From raw timber to finished structures, the footage became a centrepiece of the brand’s digital storytelling – embedded into the website, shared via social, and used in sales and marketing material to demonstrate scale, quality and care.
